The Great Flattening

When social distribution networks optimized purely for time-on-screen, cultural diversity suffered a catastrophic collapse. Every thumbnail began to resemble every other thumbnail; video editing rhythms homogenized into hyper-caffeinated two-second cuts; editorial criticism was replaced by affiliate link compilations.

Against this grey algorithmic tide, an emergent counter-culture has established permanent outposts.

Tactile Digital Craft

Publishing platforms that respect reader autonomy—eschewing infinite scroll in favor of bounded issue numbers, archival typography, and verified human bylines—are proving that discernment remains deeply valued.
